Bushwalk Northside - Glen Rock

1234567891011Tenthill Valley from Glen Rock

Glen Rock Regional Park Tenthill Valley

We explored this area a couple of times before and plan a return visit in this cooler time of the year. Glen Rock itself is a small protruding outcrop of 828 m on the northern end of the Mistake Mountains Range, which extends from the Main Range at Cunningham Gap to the Fassifern Valley. It can be reached within two hours drive of Brisbane. (~43 km from Gatton). Features include fertile flats, rugged basalt ridges & hidden rainforest gorges, rocky creeks and expansive views down distant valleys. There are a couple of ways to ascend this ‘little hill’ both of which are very steep, but not all that long. It should make an easy day all round. Of course there are other possibilities for experienced bushwalkers, like Point Pure, Blackfellow Falls and the Amphitheatre. These however would require at least two days, with planning well ahead.

Date: Sunday, 20 June
Time: 10am at the 'Casuarina' day use and camping area,
Glen Rock. Turn off the Hwy at Gatton. Find the Mt. Sylvia road
and head south to the Tenthill Valley.
See map details below!

(1½ to 2 hours from Brisbane) Car-pooling is suggested!
Grading: M-5-4
This will be a medium to hard grade, short day walk of
around 4 hrs with steep off-track, scrub and creek sections,
requiring good fitness.
All welcome, no need to book.
Please advise us however if you are attending, so we are
prepared for late arrivals.
Bring: Plenty of drinking water, sturdy footwear, picnic-lunch,
and again Swiss Chocolate for the leaders, a small first aid kit
and good humour.
Information and bookings: Phone Diane or Fredi on 07 3289 1183
R.S.V.P. Please r.s.v.p. to arrange possible car pooling.
