This walk is very popular and we enjoyed it a a few times before over the past few years. Mt.Cordeaux is the peak on the west of Cunningham’s Gap. A medium graded track climbs up through the rainforest where you can breathe fresh clean air and admire great views. Apart from the bellbirds one may also hear the catbird. Passing beautiful brush box trees and spring flowers we should be able to find an abundance of spear lilies creating a brilliant red display. Once we contour around the top of Mt.Cordeaux, towards Morgan’s lookout, the observant hikers may spot the lovely rock orchids. About 20 minutes further we reach the top of Bare Rock. Our lunch break here will be enhanced with grandiose views to the North as far as the Glasshouse Mountains and the forested mountains of the Main Range to the East and West. This walk is suitable for all ages, but care must be taken around the exposed cliff lines. |
