Grade: Moderate all day 15km (about 5-6 hour)
walk on tracks with creek crossings and steep rough bits. Morning on sunny
open ridges heading down hill with limited shade and the afternoon in shady
wet scherophyll forest climbing gradually uphill.
Where: Gheerulla Creek from Delicia Road, Mapleton, 120km north of
Brisbane, about a 1.5 hour drive.
Details: We want to car pool and leave Brisbane 7am with the aim of
starting the walk by 9am. The walk starts on Delicia Road west of Mapleton on
a ridge top track to Gheerulla Bluff. After the bluff there is a steep descent
down to Gheerulla Creek. The track follows Gheerulla creek upstream to
Gheerulla Falls where we will leave the creek and head back up to Delicia
Road. The start and finish are both on Delicia Road but not at the same spot,
their about 6km apart and we will leave a car at both spots. This track is part
of the Sunshine Coast Great Walk.
