Dear Members and Friends,
Our 1 August celebration at Samford was a huge success with approximately 400 people attending. The day was just beautiful, and I think the photos speak for themselves! I would like to thank the committee members and all the volunteers who helped make this event run smoothly. We simply couldn’t do it without you.
This year we had the pleasure to welcome Mr Pedro Zwahlen, Ambassador of Switzerland, Eros Robbiani, Deputy Consul-General Sydney, and Daniel Gschwind, Honorary Consul of Queensland as our official guests. We enjoyed a delicious meal, prepared by our fantastic volunteers, and members were able to buy Swiss goodies such as Rivella, Ragusa, Kirsch chocolate, Meatloaf and Swiss “Bratwurst”. The Baerg-Roeseli Choir entertained young and old and it is so nice to see that they encourage the younger generation to participate in the Swiss Folklore.
The evening before the 1 August celebration, Mr Robbiani held an information evening, please refer to page 5 for more details.
If there is anyone interested in taking on the position of President for the Swiss Community Care Society, please contact Lorly Wihler on 07 3298 5300 or talk to any of the SCCS committee members.
More than half the year is already gone, incredible! Please come and enjoy the Barefoot Bowling in September, it’s always a lot of fun. The Camping Weekend at the end of September is on again, RSVP as soon as possible. And don’t forget to join us as at the AGM on 11 November, it is your opportunity to vote and catch up with the committee. We would love to see you! The Springbrook Weekend is on again in November, and the Gold Coast has their End-of-Year Picnic at the end of November.
There will be one more issue of Swiss News before the end of the year, with details for the Samichlaus in Brisbane and what’s on at the beginning of 2018.
In the meantime, enjoy the last days of “Winter”, it feels like Spring already at the moment!
I look forward to seeing you at one of our next events.
