New President's Report - 11 November 2017
add this page to My Favorites
Dear Members and Friends of the SSQ,
One of my favorite quotes from Albert Einstein says “Love is a better master than duty”.
This quote really sums it up on how I would like to go about my new role as president of the SSQ. I see this role merely as a passion and it makes me happy to think that members will look forward to come to our functions.
Even though, I am sure there will be times when I think of what the heck I let myself into, I look forward to my new role, with the support of a great team, and the comeback of Rita.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the outgoing committee members for the many hours of hard work they put into our club.
José, your talents of raising money for the club and selling raffle tickets, will be greatly missed.
Dear Peter, I wish you a jolly good time travelling through Australia and visiting Switzerland with your dear wife Marlies.
To you Jakob, I’m glad that you will still be baking your cakes. Be prepared to continue to bring your delicious sweets to our functions. We also thank you for sending out the newsletters for us.
Last but not least, René: I know, 2019 will be a busy year for you, especially with organising the Australian Jass Tournament. However I am glad that this doesn’t deter you of running the bar for the club in future still.
The next calendar year marks various events throughout, starting with a movie night in February and a bus trip in March. The Australian Jass Tournament held at the Gold Coast is on 9 June 2018 and the “Metzgete” will be held on the same night.
All events will be posted on our new website , as well as in the Swiss News and sent out by email.
I send a warm welcome to our new committee members Diane, Irene, Luana and Sandra. I am looking forward to be working with you all. I am sure you are equally excited and can’t wait to inject the club with young and fresh ideas.
To all members, I encourage you and your friends to come along to any of the events we hold and give me chance to get to know you. I am also looking forward to seeing lots of families for whom we will provide child minding services with lots of activities for the kiddies.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and “en guete Rotsch is neue Johr”.
Your President

Anita Meier
