Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA)

The SSQ congratulates Katja Wallimann Gates on her election to the Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA).

Message by the elected CSA delegates representing Australia

This election has been a great opportunity for Swiss in Australia to democratically choose their delegates and for us to gain legitimacy as the representatives of the Swiss community in Australia. Those that have participated in this pilot project have been at the forefront of reforming the election process of the Council of the Swiss Abroad. We are grateful to them and the OSA and the canton of Geneva, to make this possible. We are also grateful to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, in particular the Consulate General in Sydney, for its assistance and support. We thank all candidates that put their hand up to stand for election, and lastly – we thank YOU for putting your trust and confidence in us! We look forward to serving this community for the next four years.

Message from Katja, newly elected Delegate CSA Australia

Thank you all so much for your support and votes for the election for the Council of the Swiss Abroad. I am very honored to have received the second highest votes and I was the only new member elected. I know this is mostly because of my Queensland support.
I would like to be your representative in an oldfashioned way, so please let me know what concerns you, so I can communicate it to my fellow Australian representatives and CSA. I would love to be a link between all Swiss living in Australia and the Government in Switzerland, especially for those with no access to a Swiss club or community.
I am still in the stage of reading up on all the issues and unfortunately won’t be able to go to the first congress in Basel in August.
My question to you at this point is if you would be interested in a column in each Swiss News so I can provide updates on what’s going on in the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad?

Katja Wallimann Gates
Delegate CSA of Australia
