The Swiss Club of NSW in it's current legal form was founded on 2 October 1968. The purpose of this club is to promote social activities and friendships within the Swiss Community of NSW and at the same time also encourage friendly interaction with other clubs and Australians. It is a non profit organisation and therefore the membership fees are kept as low as possible. The club does not operate it's own premises. Get-togethers and functions are organised in a variety of venues. The committee meets on the first Monday of the month (except public holidays) at the Austrian Schnitzelhaus in Gladesville. The Jassers usually meet at the Eiger restaurant in Petersham every Monday night. Every second Friday evening of the month the Swiss also meet at the Austrian Club in Frenchs Forest. Both venues are an excellent opportunity to meet a bunch of friendly people with an interest in Switzerland and at the same time enjoy a delicious meal. The Swiss Club organises a number of other functions throughout the year like regular seniors luncheons, picnics, Fondue Nights, Bowling, National Day Celebrations, Wine Tastings, Nights "with a difference" etc. These events are advertised in the social calendar and in the "Swiss Community News" which is printed 5 times a year. You don't need to be a member of the Club nor do you need to be a Swiss to participate in any of our functions or to advertise in these two publications. Everybody with an interest in Switzerland or Swiss Culture is most welcome! |
